I used white potatoes about 6 and about three handfuls of baby carrots. I cut my meat corbed half so it would better fit my crockpot and cut some of the fat off. I waited a couple of hours before I added half a large head of cabbage. The flavor was excellent. This recipe is definitely a keeper!! Easy to make and great flavor. Next time I will add the cabbage When is cooked half thru.
The cabbage did not keep it's color. This was one of the best recipes I've ever tried for corned beef. I liked the little hint of sweetness. I added brown sugar instead of white. I think cups of water would be sufficient.

Definitely agree that maybe more potatoes and carrots. I made this, but with a slight alteration. I added two cabbaye of water and 1 cup of dark ale beer. I substituted brown sugar for white sugar.
I also put the brisket on top of the potatoes, carrots and onion and "then" poured the coened liquid slowly over how to get white teeth from home brisket. I placed the cabbage wedges around the beef careful not to submerge wifh and overlapped where necessary and sprinkled the wedges with seasoned salt.
